Summary
My Brother Sam is Dead, by James Lincoln Collier and Christopher Collier, takes place during the American Revolutionary War. The main character, Tim Meeker, is stuck between the Tories and patriots. His father, Life, is a Tory and thinks that everyone should just do as the king says. His brother Sam, however, is a patriot and is fighting in the war for the patriot side. Sam and Life have been arguing back and forth about Sam being a patriot. Tim doesn't know what he should do. Which side should he choose? As the war goes on, things get more difficult for the Meeker family. Tim and his father go to sell their beef, little do they know that cowboys are patrolling the roads for Tories. Later on, Tim's father goes missing. Where is he? What will Tim do? The story unfolds from there. From secret letters to execution, this book is about being brave and doing what you think is right.
